Tracking course

Would you like to know where to find the animals, and where your quarry has gone after the shot? Tracks can be followed across ANY terrain and you can tell where the next print will be from reading the pressure releases. You just have to know how!
I have read the books I mentioned and I am learning, but I feel there is no substitute for hands on experience and maybe being taught(?!)

To the point: Native awareness are running a Tracking course 14th to 16th August. 3 days tracking tuition, training and pactice should enable anyone to become pretty darn good! James who runs the course is also a bowhunter, but he preferes to get close (really close) to the animal and uses primitive equipment (bows he makes himself) and is a student of Tom Browns. (yes there has been banter between us, as I shoot a compound :o )

It is really good value for a 3 day course at £200

anyone else fancy it?

Can any one tell me how good the Native Awareness course are?
I have looked at the site, and they do appear to be a bit Hippy/Dippy/Tree Huggy/New Age - Just you come out from the City and we will show you the Countryside - type of folk.
I may be doing them an injustice - I probably am - But would I not want to go on a course and be disappointed.
Thanks
Davy

I have not been on any of their tracking courses but I know one of the instuctors (Feathers). I have no doubt in their knowledge of tracking and the course should be good.

They are from the Tom Brown Jr side of the tracking fence. What that means is that there will be an element of "use the force" in their teaching, as well as some of the more organoleptic techniques (look at it, touch it, smell it, taste it).

Think of it as natural awareness. We teach it on our tracking courses, alongside the man and animal tracking. Just think of it as another tool in your tracking box. I have seen its use in people who hunt to feed themselves around the world. You just tend to get it where people are still more intimate with their surroundings.

OH, I didnt realise you did tracking courses too.

I guess it wouldnt break the rules to answer this, as you have been asked.

When and how much are your tracking course? (Rob?) Their course didnt run so I am still interested in attending a Tracking course.

With regards to Native awareness, yes, you would be doing them an injustice. I have been on a couple of courses with them and they are very knowlegable chaps that know a vast amount more about the topics I am interested in than I do. I have been nothing less than very impressed with their courses and would most certainly recommend them.
If you want to go and hug a tree in your spare time thats up to you. They didnt teach me how to do that!

Ha ha, I'd go along with the comment about the Tom Brown style teaching though. If you are interested buy one of Tom Brown Jr's books. They are only cheap.

lol - if they didn't teach you to hug a tree then we will ;) It's not so much of a hippy thing as you might think. I am trying to remember whether some of the guys from here had a bit of it at a Holmbush shoot once

We are not due to run any more tracking courses until next year - but thet may well change after the end of this month if some marketing comes off that is in the pipeline.

If you follow the link at the bottom of the post then you should find some tracking info in the training section of the site.
