Introduction

Hi All.
I'm not new to Archery but am only just dipping my toe in the water at bow hunting and this is my first compound bow. Range time is meaningless if you can't use it to put dinner on the table or control varmints who want to eat it first. I look forward to learning more. I have a 2006 Merlin XS, 305fps... any good? I just looked at the Cabela catalogue and am bewildered. Oh...and I'm useless with computers.

The Merlin XS is a nice bow, if a bit loud when it fires. I have the XV which is a slighly longer more recent version and it is a very fast bow that is nice to shoot (nicer than my Bowtech Guardian). It is certainly more than capable of taking game as long as you are
