Change in French Bowhunting law.

Change in French Bowhunting law.

Postby Iceman on 15 Sep 2008, 09:47

I have just been informed by Laurent Wild who is president of the french bowhunting association of a change in the french hunting law that will allow us to hunt in France without having attended the French bowhunting education course.

Good news!..... Looks like the English may be invading France yet again!!

I am also in the process of sorting out some hunting in southern France,so watch this space!!

2008: Foreign hunters can now bowhunt in France...
The French Federation of Bowhunters (http://www.ffca.net) has recently obtained significant improvements to the regulations on bowhunting via a new ministerial decree published on August 18th, 2008. This new ordinance reiterates the main part of the ordinance of 1995, namely: to bowhunt, it is necessary, in addition to obtaining a hunting licence, to have followed one Day of Compulsory Training organized by a Departmental Federation of Hunters.
The new rule now also allows foreigners to bowhunt in France. There are two possibilities for non residents:
- If the hunter goes hunting only for a short period (that is, he or she pays for a temporary validation* for up to nine days), he can bowhunt directly without proving his participation in the aforementioned Day of Compulsory Training or presenting any proof of bowhunting skill.
- If the hunter hunts regularly in our country (that is, he or she pays an annual validation*), he must (and can now) complete the Day of Compulsory Training organised in France.
*NB: to obtain a validation (temporary or annual), the non resident must, whatever his or her hunting method, present a hunting licence delivered by his or her own country’s hunting authorities.

Great news Iceman, makes stringing our bow that bit easier.

Thanks to the FBA.

You don't have to go back as far as Crecy to hear of a Longbow being used in anger in France . Check out the link below, 'Captain Jack Churchill'
